Hazwan Najib is the Co-Founder of DoctorOnCall Malaysia. He started DoctorOnCall more than three years ago, with his partner and former colleague, Maran Virumandi.
After spending months studying the trend and growth of telehealth industry globally, he and his partner decided to establish DoctorOnCall, the leading Digital Health platform for patients to speak to a qualified doctor through chat, audio or video channel. Since then, this platform has grown from strength to strength and now provides health information to more than 2 million users on a monthly basis and thousands of individuals who are looking for personalised medical advice from qualified doctors.
Prior to joining DoctorOnCall, Hazwan spent 11 years in Strategy Consulting at Accenture, focusing on the banking and insurance industry. After spending years in working and understanding how digital revolution disrupts various industries, it was time to solve some of the biggest challenges in the healthcare space through digital innovation.
Launched in 2017, DoctorOnCall is the pioneering telehealth platform in Malaysia. It is the first company in Malaysia to offer end-to-end digital healthcare services, which includes Online Consultation with doctors and specialists, medication delivery, home lab testing and appointment booking in clinics and hospital. DoctorOnCall has helped the Malaysian government by channelling over 5 million users through their Virtual Health Advisory service during the early onset of COVID-19.
DoctorOnCall currently is the largest digital health platform in Malaysia with over 2.5m visitors monthly. They have positioned themselves to be the core ecosystem for healthcare services by connecting Patients to Doctors, and Payers (Insurers, Employers) to Providers (Hospitals & Clinics).
To date, 10 insurance companies are providing DoctorOnCall services to their members and close to 1000 specialists are providing services through their platform too.
DoctorOnCall has also been active in reshaping the regulatory reform in healthcare to enable the introduction of digital healthcare services by engaging with the Ministry of Health through Telemedicine Development Group.
